Az 1956-os magyar forradalom emlékműve
Ebben a városrészben, egy sétáló park szélén helyezkedik el az ottani polgármesteri hivatal épülete és a helyi rendőrség székhelye. Előtte van egy szépen rendben tartott márványtábla angol és magyar felirattal az 1956-os magyar forradalom emlékére.
Remember Hungary and those who died for our freedom
The 1956 Hungarian Revolution was fought for the right of self-determination and national independence. Thousands of patriots died in the fight against dictatorship, but they could not free their homeland. These martyrs could free only 200.000 of their fellow countryman who escaped to the west. This monument in memory of the fallen heros, was erected by the grateful survivors, now Canadian citizens.
Történetek az emlékhez
1997-ben voltam először Kanadában a párom meghívására, aki 1956-ban 16 évesen hagyta el Magyarországot, és fél évet töltöttem nála. Többszöri kint létem alatt, mindég meghatódva álltam az emlékmű előtt és hálát éreztem a gesztusért.
