Monument, plaque · Gdańsk, Poland
In memory of the assistance provided by the citizens of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk University of Technology to Hungarians in 1956
On October 26, 2021, a Polish and Hungarian bilingual commemorative plaque was unveiled, commemorating the struggles of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and the spontaneous solidarity shown by the citizens of Gdańsk (including university students), as well as their donations of blood, medicine, and food. The initiative serves as a reminder of the historical fact that the Polish people—and especially the residents of the coastal city of Gdańsk—provided immense assistance to the Hungarian insurgents. The plaque was erected at the initiative of the Consulate General of Hungary in Gdańsk.
With gratitude to the students and citizens of Gdańsk who have expressed their solidarity with the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence.
