Az 1956-os magyar forradalom emlékműve
It commemorates the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and Hungarian-Albanian friendship. Although the Stalinist Albanian leadership of 1956 condemned the Hungarian Revolution, the memorial plaque in Shkodra symbolizes the solidarity and historical ties between the peoples of the two nations. The main part of the text pays tribute to the heroes of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence, and recalls the historical connection that Albanian students once studied in Hungary, many of whom sympathized with or expressed solidarity with the events in Hungary.
“Erected in 2016 by the Hungarian Embassy in Tirana, the Municipality of Shkodra, and the Honorary Consulate of Hungary in Shkodra to mark the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence.” The text is available in both Albanian and English.
